The proposed Phase 2 work includes field borings (the consultant referenced six borings), soil sampling to be sent to a laboratory, and ground-penetrating radar to search for any remaining tanks. Staff said the fieldwork should be completed in roughly 15 days with laboratory turnaround and a final report bringing the total to about 35 days.
Staff recommended proceeding with the Phase 2 study to limit future liability as purchaser and to confirm whether additional remediation might be required; trustees approved forwarding the proposal to the board and instructed staff to request any necessary contract extensions while the study is completed.
