The Committee of the Whole reviewed a proposal to hire McMahon & Associates for engineering and construction management services to replace the Riverside Park Pavilion.
Staff described McMahon’s prior involvement in the site’s structural review and said the firm could provide design‑continuing services and prepare proposals that include accessibility ramp options and structural plans. Trustees asked whether the replacement would be a metal pole barn, a conventional shelter, or another shelter type; staff and trustees discussed that the engineering effort covers design drawings and construction oversight and that construction costs would substantially exceed simple material estimates mentioned in conversation.
Committee members asked staff to request a formal proposal from McMahon that includes engineering drawings, options for ramps and accessibility, scope for construction management, and cost estimates. No contract was approved at the meeting; the committee directed staff to obtain a proposal and bring it back for further consideration.
Trustees also discussed project timing and expressed interest in cost comparisons and schematic diagrams to guide a future decision. Staff agreed to provide the proposal and additional details to the committee for review.
