Sugar Land music advisory board hears public concerns on venues, funding and promotion

The meeting focused on several recurring complaints: a small number of regular venues, the cost and administrative burden of licensing and performance-rights organization (PRO) fees for small businesses, lack of shade and refreshments at outdoor programming, confusion over who controls Town Square bookings, and the need for better promotion and a searchable registry of local artists.
The advisory board's chair and members listened as multiple speakers said Sugar Land lacks a range of public stages and reliable programming.
