The Transportation Safety Committee voted unanimously to approve installation of an LED crosswalk‑ahead sign at West Street and Glengarry for $1,500.
Staff explained the original $9,000 signpost solution was impractical because a utility pole sits at the corner and prevents on‑corner installation; as an alternative the LED crosswalk‑ahead sign on the downhill approach was recommended. The committee moved and seconded the purchase and approved the $1,500 LED sign by roll call: Lieutenant John McGrath and all members present voted aye.
Staff said the LED sign is similar to other LED crosswalk aids installed elsewhere in town and that the purchase will replace the earlier allocated $9,000 signpost plan for that location. Staff will proceed with procurement and installation and will monitor sign performance after installation.
