The advisory committee received several operational updates on seasonal attractions and public-art projects.
Staff reported the first round of an outdoor public-art install (trash-receptacle art) is scheduled to be installed the next day, weather permitting, and that additional submissions continue to arrive. Staff said the campaign will be promoted once there are tangible pieces to show and additional call-for-art slots are available.
Committee members also discussed logistics for the large pumpkin display and drop scheduled for Monday the 26th (installation and viewing logistics to be confirmed). Staff said the pumpkin will be delivered and set up near the carousel wall and that a crane will place it near the south side of the turnaround; the main public viewing will be from the Wyndham area. Staff said volunteers and media will be invited and that the timing is weather dependent.
A staff member reminded the committee that staff had to coordinate staging, volunteer names and crane logistics and that a backup plan would be prepared if weather prevents the planned drop.
Committee members asked staff to continue promoting the art campaign and the pumpkin event once installation details and media logistics are finalized.
