Recreation Director Zaid told the commission on Sept. 4 that a full renovation of the pool house is expected to begin within weeks and finish about three months after construction starts.
“Our pool house renovation should begin within the next few weeks, and it should be complete within 3 months of the start date,” Zaid said. He described the work as a complete renovation including new toilets, ceilings, floors and roofing, and said the project will bring the facility into ADA compliance.
Zaid also said summer camps concluded with strong participation and positive feedback, thanked counselors and community partners (including the Grosse Ile Nature and Land Conservancy), and noted that the golf course will remain open into October and November with updated carts available for the season.
On marina operations, Zaid said winter storage paperwork is now available; residents interested in storing boats should contact the recreation office to obtain a contract and then consult with the dock master to confirm a space. “Make sure you come promptly because those spots definitely fill up quickly,” Zaid said.
The commission did not set a formal construction start date at the Sept. 4 meeting; Zaid provided a projected timeline and encouraged interested residents to watch for updates from the Recreation Department.
