At its regular meeting the Polk County Board of Supervisors approved a series of resolutions and routine actions. Items approved on the agenda included public-hearing notices, property dispositions, grant agreements, contract amendments, and position modifications.
Key approvals included:
- Resolution authorizing the auditor's office to publish notice of a public hearing on Oct. 7 for disposal of county-owned real estate (parcel filed 2005-3712, 1249 Fourth Street, Des Moines) (Item 10).
- Resolution authorizing publication of a public hearing notice (Oct. 7) for 2025 sanitary-sewer improvements on several Northeast Des Moines streets (Item 11).
- Resolution redirecting Chichaqua special-project funding to Brenton Slough and Lower 4-Mile Greenway property acquisitions (Item 12).
- A second amendment to a 28E agreement with the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship for staff engineer funding (Item 13).
- Supplement agreement for additional services with Chuck Bridson for bridal repair construction documents (Item 14) and an amendment to an agreement with Houston Engineering for the Nalian Wetland project (Item 15).
- Living Roadway Trust Fund grant agreements with the Iowa Department of Transportation for equipment purchase and native prairie sod (Items 16 and 17).
- A commercial branding license to Polk County Conservation (Item 18).
- Service agreement with Broadlawn's Medical Center, release of mortgage for 2410 East Grand Avenue, system access agreement between UnityPoint Health and Polk County Health Department, and an agreement with the University of Iowa to host the Prepare Iowa Information Sharing Platform (Items 19–22).
- Governor's Traffic Safety Bureau federal enforcement incentive grant (Item 23).
- Position modifications in the sheriff's office, the board of supervisors office, the auditor's office, and the treasurer's office (Items 24–26).
- Assessor recommendations for homestead, military service, and disabled veteran tax exemptions (Items 27–30).
- Resolutions approving agreements to support a community land trust with Home Inc. and a 28E agreement amendment between Polk County and the cities of Des Moines and West Des Moines (Item 34) and related agreements (Item 35).
Public hearing: The board opened a public hearing on granting a perpetual trail easement, confirmed proof of publication was on file and, with no one appearing to speak, closed the hearing and approved the easement by motion and roll call.
Most items were moved and seconded without extended debate and passed on unanimous roll-call votes. Where the transcript recorded roll calls, Supervisors Holm, Hawkinsmith, Connelly, Altringer and McCoy each recorded 'Yes.'
