Tampa VRB continues Item 7 after member recuses; hearing rescheduled to Oct. 14

The City of Tampa Variance Review Board on Sept. 9 accepted a recusal and continued an agenda item to the boards October meeting. Board member Simone Savino Brown said she had a conflict with item 7 and would recuse herself because the matter is “being represented by my former firm.”
Board members noted that Browns recusal would leave too few members to conduct the public hearing on the pending case. Board member Todd Fultz moved to continue the item; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The item was rescheduled for Oct. 14, 2025, at 5:25/5:30 p.m. at 315 East Kennedy Boulevard.
The board chair read the procedural implication for petitioners: if a member recuses and the board lacks a quorum to hear a case, the hearing must be continued. The board advised the affected parties to appear at the rescheduled date or notify staff if further continuance is requested.
The continuation was procedural and did not adjudicate the underlying merits of the case.
