Tampa council schedules two multimodal transportation impact-fee workshops for late September and October

A walk-on resolution to set public workshops on proposed multimodal transportation impact fees was added to tonight's agenda and approved unanimously by the City Council.
The resolution, introduced as a walk-on and explained by a speaker who requested the item be added for discussion to comply with Florida law, would place detailed workshop discussions on the council's regular workshop agendas on Sept. 25, 2025, and Oct. 30, 2025. City Council Attorney Martin Shelby advised the council that because the item had been advertised per statute requirements it should be set for 9 a.m. or as soon thereafter as practical and recommended placing the topic first on each workshop agenda.
Councilwoman Hertek moved the resolution and Councilwoman Miranda seconded. The voice vote was unanimous in favor.
City staff said they would schedule briefings for council members in advance of the Sept. 25 workshop so members could be prepared and the workshops could be more efficient.
The resolution sets the two workshops for 9 a.m. (or as soon thereafter as practical) in City Council Chambers, Third Floor, City Hall, 315 East Kennedy Boulevard, Tampa, Florida. No substantive policy decisions were made tonight; the action places fuller public discussions on the calendar and preserves the council's intent to proceed with publicly noticed workshops where the fee proposal will be discussed in detail.
