Red Sushi’s indoor-entertainment condition amended to require all entertainment to cease by midnight

The ALRC amended the conditions on Red Sushi’s alcohol and entertainment licenses on Aug. 20, removing a weekend-only restriction and replacing it with a seven-day limit requiring all entertainment to cease by midnight.
Owner Tanya told the committee Red (Red Sushi) is primarily an event and dining space that rarely uses the 21-plus entertainment allowance; she said the business wants the flexibility to host occasional DJs or small bands for private events on weekdays as well as weekends. Tanya said the recently added event space across the hallway is enclosed and has a separate entrance and that outdoor amplified music would not be pursued.
Alder Oliver Revere moved to modify condition number 2 on both the alcohol license and the 21-plus entertainment license so that “entertainment shall cease by midnight.” Alder Figueroa Cole seconded. Committee members noted Tanya’s participation in two neighborhood meetings and said neighbors had generally supported interior entertainment provided outdoor music would not proceed; the motion passed with no recorded objection.
The committee and the licensee agreed the business should continue outreach to neighbors and the police if any noise issues arise.
