Pulaski County court members voted during a short special-call meeting to lower the county's real property tax rate from 4.4 to 4.3 and to place all tax rates on the county tax bill that will be mailed Oct. 1.
The change was proposed by Mr. Renshaw, a Pulaski County court member, who said, "I make a motion that we decrease the tax rate from 4.4 to 4.3." Mr. Strunk seconded the motion. The presiding officer then called for a voice vote; members responded "Aye" and the motion passed. The court followed with a separate motion, also made by Mr. Renshaw and seconded by Mr. Strunk, to place all county tax rates on the county tax bill scheduled to be mailed Oct. 1; that motion likewise passed on a voice vote.
The presiding officer noted the county's tax rate has been lowered several times in recent years, saying the rate "seems to have lowered ... possibly 5 out of the last 6 years." The meeting record includes no roll-call vote or numerical tally; outcomes were recorded by voice vote and announced as passing.
After the tax-rate votes the court approved a motion to adjourn. Mr. Strunk moved to adjourn; Mr. Turpin seconded, and the presiding officer closed the meeting.
The special-call meeting included only the tax-rate item and adjournment; no additional public comment, budget breakdowns or supporting materials were discussed on the record.
