Parents were told they may review and provide feedback on the consolidated plan and the ACIP, and that the school’s family engagement plan explains how parent engagement funds are allocated and how parents can receive training to support learning at home.
Dr. McCullough described the school-parent compact as "our shared promise" that outlines responsibilities of the school, parents and students; families review and sign the compact each fall and the signed agreements are kept in each teacher’s classroom. Parents were told they have the right to request information about their child’s teacher qualifications in writing; the school will respond with certifications, degrees and licensure. "At this time, we do not have any teachers teaching out of field," Dr. McCullough said.
Parent leaders for the 2025–26 school year were introduced as Owen Henderson and Heather Henderson; Dr. McCullough said the pair review the ACIP, provide feedback on school goals and family engagement activities, connect families with community resources and ensure parent voices are heard. The ACIP leadership team members named during the meeting included Ken Wiggins, Stephanie Hill, Brandy Lucas, Christy Nelson, Misty Rochester, Stephanie Daniel, Jennifer Adamson and Sabrina Rollins.
Doug, who identified himself as a parent of two girls at Woodland Elementary, said he and his family are "excited to be part of this community" and encouraged other parents to share input and ideas with the school’s parent leaders.
The presentation emphasized that Title I funds reserve specific dollars for family engagement and that school and district documents — the family engagement plan and the consolidated plan — are available on the school and district websites. No formal votes or policy actions were recorded at the meeting; the session focused on informing families and soliciting parent feedback.
