Trustees asked for clarifications. One trustee asked about a phrase in the science-fiction-and-fantasy literature course description that refers to material as “quite sophisticated”; the presenter explained the intent was to indicate the material is complex and requires processing, not that it is controversial. The presenter also confirmed that every high-school course must have a syllabus distributed to students and parents early in the school year.
The course list was presented for the board’s consideration in the packet; the item was described as an annual practice and no final vote was recorded at this meeting.
