On Oct. 14 the School Committee reauthorized revolving accounts and student-activity funds, approved a name change request from students, and waived turf-field fees for a community youth program.
The committee voted to reauthorize the district's student-activity and revolving accounts for another year. Administrators advised the committee that student-activity funds are legally owned by the students who raise them and that advisors support but do not direct spending; the administration said it will continue outreach to class officers to return legacy balances to graduating classes where possible.
At student request, the committee approved renaming the "Science Olympiad" student-activity account to "Robotics Club." The committee also approved a waiver of turf-field fees for the Stoughton Youth Lacrosse program for the 2025–26 season, citing both community benefit and the condition of alternative fields such as Marks Field.
Finance director Heidi Perkins and building administrators said the district is moving student-activity accounts into the town's Munis accounting system to improve transparency and tracking; historically many of those accounts were managed with manual checkbooks. The administration said it has already established fund codes for high school and middle school activity accounts and will complete the migration by year-end.
The committee voted on both items by roll call; minutes record the votes as unanimous where noted and the motions carried.
