Banner Health announced at a ribbon-cutting ceremony that its new Banner Health Center at GSQ in Goodyear is a three-story, 65,000-square-foot multispecialty facility and that appointments can be scheduled now ahead of an official opening Oct. 22. City officials, developers and Banner leaders attended the ceremony, which took place adjacent to Goodyear City Hall.
The center will bring primary care, orthopedics, endocrinology and imaging services to Goodyear and the West Valley, with additional specialties such as cardiovascular care planned in the future. Bridget Gesser, senior project manager in Banner Health’s development and construction department, said, "The 65,000 square foot facility represents a major milestone for Banner Health and a meaningful investment in this growing community." Gesser noted the building will combine primary care, specialty services, on-site imaging and lab services under one roof.
Kara Mayu, Banner’s executive director for imaging, described the equipment and staffing on the First Floor, saying, "This will allow us to increase access in this community, provide fast and efficient and safe care to nearly 65,000 patients annually in Banner Imaging." She also told attendees the Banner imaging team at the new site will include 35 team members and that the center will offer faster MRI and CT scanners as well as other imaging modalities.
Officials and development partners framed the center as part of broader downtown development at GSQ (Goodyear Civic Square). Mayor Joe Pizzillo said the project brings jobs and services downtown and told the crowd, "Welcome, GSQ. Your success is our success and we always like to add, it's a great time to be in Goodyear." George Getz, president and CEO of Globe Corporation, and Chuck Carefoot of Ryan Companies also spoke about the partnership between developers, the city and Banner.
Banner Medical Group CEO Dr. Shiva Burdi said the center represents the start of a longer local investment and that staffing will expand: "We have over 20 providers planned here." The third floor will house orthopedics; imaging and lab services will be on the lower floors. The speakers noted that the facility is intended to reduce travel for West Valley patients who previously had to drive to Peoria, Glendale or downtown Phoenix for some specialties.
The ceremony closed with an invitation for attendees to tour the building; Banner said an open house will run through 1 p.m. on the day of the ribbon cutting. City social media posts and Banner’s website were listed as the channels for scheduling appointments and finding provider information.
Details reported at the ceremony that were not specified include exact staffing start dates for each specialty clinic, payer or funding sources for the project, and whether any services will require referral to Banner hospitals. Speakers named multiple project partners involved in design and construction, including Globe Corporation, Ryan Companies, Deveni Group, Butler Design Group, Cezanne Group and contractor teams.
