Hamby and other leaders said they expect scores to strengthen as teachers and students adjust to the changes. She also praised the resilience of schools affected by Hurricane Helene, noting Pleasant Gardens Elementary and Old Fort Elementary achieved meaningful growth despite the disruption.
Board members asked whether every school would present improvement strategies; Hamby responded that every school will present at the October board work session so the board can review data, school designations and improvement plans.
District staff also said more precise graduation-rate figures will be available in November after final data compilation. The board and administration emphasized that student outcomes remain the primary focus amid capital projects and other district work.
