The board adopted Wylie ISD202526ndash;26 district improvement plan after a staff presentation that highlighted academic gains, program updates and goals for the coming year.
District staff reported an overall Texas accountability score increase from 86 to 89 for the district. The presenter noted that the district now has three campuses rated A and three rated B in 2025 (up from 2024), and that every campus received an A in the "closing the gaps" domain, which measures progress for student groups across performance targets.
The plan sets measurable academic goals: increase the percentage of students meeting grade-level standards on STAAR reading and math by 1 percent, and increase the districtCCMR (college, career and military readiness) measure by 1 point to a scale score target of 78. Strategies include continuing use of curricula and intervention tools (Lexia Core5, IXL, Read 180/System 44), expanded teacher professional development, and targeted interventions for early grades.
Two programs were highlighted: - Ignite Academy: an alternative-program-of-choice at the high school focused on dropout prevention, credit recovery and self-paced learning. The district reported four students currently enrolled in the first year; the district expects a larger cohort over time and explained students are admitted through an interview/application and must meet state "at-risk" classification to participate. - RISE program: a behavior support classroom moved to West Intermediate this year. Staff noted small class sizes (three students cited during the presentation) and that the program is designed to protect regular instruction time while meeting student behavioral needs.
The presentation also updated trustees on the districtapplication and acceptance into the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) under House Bill 3; administrators described a three-year implementation that phases teachers into eligibility with stipends that range from $3,000 to $12,000 depending on designation. The district reported principals and central staff are calibrating appraisal systems and student-growth measures required for TIA.
The board approved the plan by voice vote. Administration will publish the abbreviated summary and continue implementation and progress reporting to the board.
