Police report: August response totals and ongoing human‑trafficking task‑force activity

The police chief said officers responded to 2,038 calls for service in August (an average of about 65 per day), made 69 arrests including 25 felony bookings, issued 104 traffic citations via the motor deputy and handled a range of crimes including two rapes, 12 robberies and 50 thefts. Priority one average response time was 4 minutes 16 seconds, priority two 18 minutes 9 seconds, and priority three 33 minutes 58 seconds.
The department's special enforcement team reported more than 250 homeless contacts in August with seven referrals for services, five probation/parole contacts, 47 prostitution‑related contacts, four felony warrant arrests, three felony arrests, 42 misdemeanor arrests and recovery of four stolen vehicles. The chief said the department has open investigations (44 cases open at the time of the report) and closed 45 cases during the month.
Council members praised the department's human‑trafficking program and task force support. One council member specifically commended staff and the task force for measurable success and community outreach in that area.
The chief said staff are available to answer follow‑up questions and will continue to update the council on enforcement metrics and special enforcement outcomes.
