Tyler Hoffer, speaking for the coroner’s office, presented annual and mid-year caseload figures to the council.
Hoffer said the office responded to 173 coroner calls in 2023, with 14 vehicular fatalities and 25 overdoses recorded that year. For the first half of 2024 (January–June), the office reported 81 coroner calls and 56 scene responses, with five overdoses and five vehicular fatalities. Hoffer said overdoses were down compared with the same point last year, noting a decline from about 15 overdoses at midyear in 2023 to five at midyear in 2024.
Hoffer said the coroner’s budget was in good shape and no additional appropriations were requested at the meeting. The council thanked him for the update.
