The City Council approved Aug. 26 a contract with Rothwell Confidential Services LLC to perform an administrative review of the South Fulton Police Department.
The contract is an administrative/operational review (not an internal disciplinary action) and was authorized by council after discussion about scope and coordination. The clerk’s record shows the professional services agreement is not to exceed $117,425. Several council members emphasized the need for the review team to be given access to staff and records in an orderly fashion and asked the police director to assist with logistics.
Why it matters: An independent administrative review is intended to examine policies, procedures and operations and to produce recommendations that can inform staffing, training or policy changes. Council said they expected the review to be neutral and to include interviews with staff and relevant records review.
Implementation and next steps: Council asked Director Cedric Alexander (interim managing director of public safety, noted in meeting introductions) to coordinate with the reviewer on scheduling and space needs. The clerk recorded the vote as 6‑0 in favor. Council indicated a committee (members referenced in discussion) will receive interim briefings as warranted.
Ending: The reviewer’s findings, schedule and any recommended follow‑up will be presented to council per the terms of the engagement.
