The Satellite Beach City Council voted on Oct. 15 to install six three‑dimensional military medallions on the rock wall in front of City Hall and to provide $2,000 toward a dedication plaque.
Council members said the medallions, each about 18 inches and intended for outdoor display, would honor members of all branches of the armed services and be mounted near the fountain outside City Hall. The proposal calls for installation of official, regulated bronze seals and for display of appropriate branch flags alongside the city flags.
Proponents told the council the project would be funded by private donations processed through the Satellite Beach Volunteer Fire Department, which can accept cash, check or card payments; the city will use $2,000 to pay for the dedication plaque. The council discussion included the location (the recently renovated rock wall next to City Hall), weather‑resistant bronze medallions, and coordination with Public Works for flag placement. The council indicated a target to have the memorial in place for the July 4 celebration in 2026.
Citizens in the meeting generally voiced support; one council member said the installation would also be an educational opportunity for young people. No objections to the concept were recorded during the public discussion that preceded the vote.
The motion to approve the project and to allocate $2,000 for the dedication plaque passed on a roll call with five yes votes.
