The Eaton County Board of Commissioners voted on several agenda items Oct. 15. The following is a summary of motions and outcomes recorded during the meeting.
Clarence Parks retirement resolution — Approved: The board read and adopted a resolution recognizing Clarence Parks’ service as a plumbing inspector in the Construction Code Office; family members were present and a staff representative offered remarks.
Board of Canvassers appointments — Appointed: Commissioners cast ballots to nominate one canvasser per party. The tallied results appointed Debbie Deason as the Democratic canvasser and Ellen Lambright as the Republican canvasser.
Holiday schedule for 2026 — Approved: The board adopted the county’s 2026 holiday schedule. Motion moved by Commissioner Droshear and supported by Commissioner Haskell; no recorded opposition.
Memorandum of Understanding with Eaton County Fire Training Committee — Approved: The board adopted an MOU concerning the Fire Training Center and noted the Fire Training Committee will vote separately. Administration said grant funds are expected to be expended over a two‑ to three‑year period, with capital procurement likely finished within a year.
Tentative agreement with Command Officers union (wage reopener) — Approved: Commissioners approved a tentative agreement that applies the same percentage increases previously budgeted for other groups; the agreement includes retroactivity to Oct. 1 for affected members.
Sheriff’s office notary fee schedule amendment — Approved: The fee for notary services at the sheriff’s office was raised from $2.50 to $5.00. Discussion noted the total revenue from the fee is low and the fee schedule will be posted on the sheriff’s department website.
Payment of county bills — Approved: The board moved to pay county bills as presented.
