Revere adopts targeted increases to parking fines to align with neighboring cities

The Revere City commission approved targeted increases to parking fines in Title 10, Schedule 1 after staff and the finance office recommended raising penalties for several violations to better align with neighboring communities and public-safety goals.

"So we looked through violations issued and amounts of them and try to look at what other cities are in line with. So we deem that these 14 violations we, should be increased, both to public safety measures and to bring the city more on board with local communities," said Zachary Babbo, director of the Revere Parking Department, giving the staff recommendation.

Rich Fiske, Revere's chief financial officer, said some fines had not changed for years and supported a modest increase "for the benefit of public safety." "There are certain increase there that haven't been changed at least in the 8 years I've been here. So just trying to keep up with, our neighbors and and, and the benefit of, public safety. And I I would, strongly recommend a favorable action," Fiske said.

Commissioners moved and seconded a motion to adopt the schedule changes; the chair announced the update approved. The changes were described as targeted — affecting 14 violations identified by staff — rather than an across-the-board increase.
