Westmont approves CP2 Consulting contract for new strategic plan

The Village of Westmont Board of Trustees on Sept. 18 approved an ordinance to contract with CP2 Consulting Inc. for strategic planning services after reviewing responses to a request for proposals.
Patty, the village's government services director, told the board the village received 24 responses to the RFP, interviewed four firms and selected CP2 Consulting. "Of the 4, CP2 was chosen. She could not be here tonight because she is at Illinois Municipal League, but we're very excited to work with her," Patty said.
Village Manager Spencer Gunther explained why the village is pursuing a strategic plan now. "The key point for a strategic plan is that it helps set the direction for our village for the next several years," Gunther said. He added that a strategic plan differs from a comprehensive plan and that the chosen consultant was selected in part for its ability to help implement and track progress on the plan.
Trustees voted to approve the contract on a motion by Trustee Little, seconded by Trustee Plowman. Roll call in the meeting transcript recorded yes votes by Trustees Little, Plowman, Barker and Perrelli.
The contract will initiate a multi-step process to identify priorities, provide public engagement and deliver an actionable road map for the village; the board did not adopt the plan at the Sept. 18 meeting and will consider implementation steps and timelines once the consultant's work begins.
