The Delaware County Interactive Gaming Revenue Authority approved multiple special grants at its Aug. 16 meeting and tabled one request pending further information.
The authority approved a one-time special grant of $50,000 to the Delaware County Office for the Public Defender to support a partners-for-justice diversion program. According to the motion on the floor, the grant is subject to county council approval. A board member clarified the award is intended to supplement a program whose federal funding was reduced; the motion passed by voice vote.
The authority also approved a $10,000 grant to Get Plugged In Inc. (fiscal sponsor: Chester Cultural Arts and Technology Center) as the remaining applicant under the 2025 arts and culture allocations. Board members discussed whether the arts-and-culture budget had sufficient funds; one member confirmed the authority had retained a $10,000 buffer to cover this award. The motion carried by voice vote.
Separately, the authority considered a motion to grant $8,000 to the Delaware County Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation for memorial renovation work. Members moved and seconded the motion but then voted to table it because the board said it lacked sufficient information to consider the request at that time. The motion to table carried by voice vote.
Votes on the grants and the tabling were recorded as voice votes in the minutes; the record does not show a roll-call tally with names.
The authority chair opened the meeting to public comment after the grant votes; none were offered. Board members then discussed upcoming budget planning and asked staff to prepare budget-versus-actual figures for review at the November meeting so the authority can finalize a budget guide in December.
