Council to appoint new solid-waste director and consider updated special-waste fees linked to labor costs

Averett also explained that the fee update is intended to recover labor costs for operator-assisted unloading of special waste at the Waste-to-Energy facility. The labor rates used are tied to the city's contracted labor union rates; staff said they will revisit fees when the 2027 rates are set.
The committee advanced the items for placement on the final council agenda.
