Bridge nearly complete at Woodland Creek Community Park, parks staff says

A Parks staff member said at Woodland Creek Community Park that the bridge replacement project is nearly complete, restoring a key connection to the nearby disc golf course and the Karen Fraser Woodland Trail.

The update matters because the previous bridge was more than 40 years old and had shown signs of deterioration; the closure affected park users who rely on that crossing for access to the trail and facilities, staff said.

A Parks staff member said the new bridge is larger and stronger than the old structure, includes safety railings and fencing designed to protect Woodland Creek, and reestablishes the pedestrian connection to the disc golf course and the Karen Fraser Woodland Trail. The staff member thanked the public for their patience during the closure and said information about reopening and access is available on the Parks and Recreation website, by calling the parks office, or on the department's Facebook page.

No costs, contractor names, reopening date or a formal motion were provided in the update; staff gave a progress report rather than seeking formal action or votes.
