The Denver Regional Council of Governments recognized Bill Haas with a distinguished service award for his work in transportation planning, including his service as program development team leader for the Colorado Division of the Federal Highway Administration.
The recognition highlighted work Haas has done since 2002 supporting Metropolitan Planning Organization functions and programs, including promoting the safe systems approach to road design and participating in the Colorado Integrated Planning Project. The integrated planning effort produced a combined map that visualizes the purposes, locations and long-range plans for transportation projects across the state, a tool cited at the meeting as improving coordination among stakeholders.
A DRCOG staff member thanked Haas during the remarks, saying, “Thank you for your many contributions to improving transportation in the state and region, and congratulations on your distinguished service award.” The staff member also noted Haas’s emphasis on designing road infrastructure that anticipates human error to reduce crashes in a multimodal system.
Meeting remarks credited Haas’s role in bringing transportation partners together through the Colorado Integrated Planning Project, which staff described as creating a single visual reference that helps agencies and stakeholders better understand where projects are planned and why. No formal action or vote accompanied the remarks.
For attendees needing digital accessibility assistance, the meeting referenced DRCOG’s web-access page at drcog.org/access and a contact phone number, (303) 455-1000, with an expected response within 72 hours or three business days.
