The McHenry County Stormwater Committee approved its 2026 meeting schedule and the minutes from its July 24 meeting and discussed upcoming municipal seat elections and whether to hold a November meeting.
Committee member Ron Burkin moved to approve the minutes from the July 24 meeting, and Larry Smith seconded; the committee voted in favor. Later, committee member Larry Smith moved to approve the 2026 meeting schedule and "Kyle" seconded; members voted "aye" and the motion carried.
Committee members discussed whether to hold a November meeting. A committee member said staff expect more clarity on substantive items by January and suggested not meeting in November. "There would be a lot more clarity in January than November," a committee member said; members indicated agreement and staff said they would keep November tentative but were inclined to skip it.
Staff also told municipal representatives that municipal member terms end in 2025 and that staff will send letters in the coming weeks asking municipalities about continued participation. Staff noted occasional ties in municipal selections that are resolved by the county clerk's office; when a tie occurs the clerk "pulls the name out of a hat," staff said.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn.
