Aug. 11, 2025 — The Yukon Planning Commission voted to table consideration of a simplified planned unit development (SPUD) application for 912 Westport Boulevard after members of the public and the commission raised outstanding questions about curb cuts, parking and incomplete application information.
Neighbors asked why the proposal included two curb cuts on a street that currently feeds into a neighborhood and encouraged the applicant and staff to consider consolidating drive access or coordinating with adjacent properties to reduce future curb cuts. “Why can't you just do one curb cut to the southernmost part of the property and then connect the driveway?” asked Stephanie Burdine, a resident who spoke during public comment.
Staff and commissioners said the applicant’s submittal lacked several details (parking counts and clear description of proposed uses) needed for a full review. Mary Whitby, a nearby resident, sought clarification about what a SPUD allows and whether it would change permitted uses next to her property.
Because the application packet contained unchecked items and unresolved questions, a commissioner moved to table the request to the next regular meeting to allow the applicant to supply missing materials and for staff to follow up on curb‑cut coordination with neighboring parcels. The motion to table passed on the record with the commission voting in favor to table.
