Higley superintendent highlights 'portrait of a graduate' skills, spotlights sports medicine and bioscience programs

Superintendent David Lottzenizer of the Higley Unified School District (4248) said in a brief message after Fall Break that the district is emphasizing critical thinking, collaboration and communication from elementary school through high school, and highlighted two high school programs that put those skills into practice.
Lottzenizer said the district’s “portrait of a graduate” emphasizes those skills at every grade level. "This focuses on critical thinking, working collaboratively, and communicating effectively," he said.
He described how the district introduces those competencies in elementary school and reinforces them through middle and high school programs. At Higley High School, Lottzenizer cited the sports medicine classroom as a program that prepares students for careers such as athletic trainers and other medical fields. He also pointed to Williams Field High School’s bioscience program, which he said allows students to work together to solve real-world problems.
Lottzenizer opened his remarks by welcoming the community back from Fall Break and closed the message with a rallying note: "Thank you so much for choosing Higley Schools, and remember, together, we got this."
