Troy Lease, identified in the meeting as the county’s emergency services director (Chief), said Etowah Water and Sewer is upgrading water mains on Elliot Road, Sunset Road and Ruby Lane and that the county is requesting $54,200 to install eight hydrants. "I'm requesting funds to install 8 new fire hydrants in the amount of $54,200, and that would be covered by impact fees," Lease said.
A commissioner asked whether the water-main work was already underway; Lease said it had started and that staff was requesting the funding to move the hydrant installations forward. The board indicated agreement to proceed with moving the request forward.
Why it matters: Hydrant installation supports firefighting capability and is coordinated with ongoing utility upgrades; funding from impact fees is the proposed source.
