Planning commissioners review updated policies and procedures, set public‑comment rules and elect chair and vice chair

The Salt Lake City Planning Commission spent much of its Sept. 10 meeting reviewing proposed updates to its policies and procedures and then elected new leadership for the coming term.

Staff presented an 18‑page redraft of the commission's policies and procedures that reorganizes and clarifies several items, including ex parte communications, conflicts of interest, social media guidance and deadlines for written materials. Mikaela Bell (staff) said the changes are intended to reflect existing legal requirements and to make the manual a clearer working document for commissioners and for the public.
