The Sawyer County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council heard an update on youth justice and diversion at its Sept. 10 meeting. Program staff reported that July was a busy month, with 11 referrals after several quieter months.
Council members said diversion services are operating and that staff (identified as Melinda in the record) have been actively coordinating with school faculty and administration to re-enroll students and to connect families with supports. The council reported positive early outcomes from truancy court and said families have been responsive to outreach.
The council indicated it will continue to monitor referral levels and program impacts and expected to report further numbers in future meetings.
