JusticePoint reports full staffing, caseloads and outreach events; TED grant due Oct. 2
Summary
JusticePoint representative Mike Markren told the council all positions are filled, provided pretrial and diversion caseload numbers, and outlined recent and upcoming outreach events and grant deadlines.
Mike Markren presented the JusticePoint report to the Sawyer County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council on Sept. 10, saying all program positions are filled.
"All positions have been filled," Markren said. He reported hires and role coverage: Danielle Church was hired as a pretrial and diversion case manager, and Rebecca Moser is completing duties for both programs coordinator and recovery court case manager; JusticePoint does not intend to split that role again.
Markren provided program statistics: in pretrial there were 17 new referrals, 116 active cases, four successful and two unsuccessful closures; diversion had six new referrals, 16 active cases and one unsuccessful closure; treatment court had seven active cases and no new referrals. He said outreach and deflection work included a countywide scavenger hunt (four participants), National Night Out (over 200 contacts), a barn dance (23 connections) and Troutfest (24 connections). Upcoming events included suicide awareness walks on Sept. 20 (Winter) and Sept. 26 (Hayward).
Markren noted a change to the TED grant schedule: the pre-application stage was removed and the full application is due on Oct. 2. He also said the federal "Reaching Rural" grant will have an on-site visit the week of Oct. 8 and requested that item be added to next month’s agenda.
Markren summarized jail programming support provided by JusticePoint and partner organizations.
