East Point council approves continued LIHEAP vendor arrangement with Fulton Atlanta Community Action Authority

The East Point City Council voted Sept. 2 to continue the city’s role as a vendor for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) in partnership with the Fulton Atlanta Community Action Authority.
Yolanda from the Office of Equity, Inclusion and Empowerment briefed the council and described LIHEAP as a program that provides utility-assistance services to qualifying residents through the Fulton Atlanta Community Action Authority. “We have been a vendor for the past I know the past 4 years that I've been here,” she said, and told council the program is provided at no cost to the city.
Council member Butler moved approval of the LIHEAP vendor contract and Council member Atkins seconded the motion. After brief discussion and expressions of thanks from council members, the mayor called the question: “All those in favor? Aye.” The mayor announced, “Motion carries.”
Staff said LIHEAP awards typically cover winter-season needs and that the city’s participation helps residents who qualify access assistance via the Fulton Atlanta Community Action Authority. The council did not discuss amendments to the vendor agreement during the meeting.
