The Downtown Business Improvement District voted Sept. 29 to authorize Utility Tax Service LLC to begin the process of imposing and collecting City- and BID-authorized CLMMD assessments under Resolution 2025R-0002.
Board members said an assessment had been authorized at $100 per appraised value in prior actions and that the current vote authorizes the contracted billing agent to issue assessment notices and collect payments. The board noted the contracted representative, Michael Arbaume of Utility Tax Service LLC, was not present because of a family illness.
According to board discussion, once issuance is approved the assessment notices can be prepared within about five days; property owners would have approximately 30 days to pay with some initial relief anticipated for first-time billing. Board members said that monies could begin arriving in late October but more likely in November, and that funds would then be available to support services once collections began.
The motion to approve Resolution 2025R-0002 passed by voice vote. The chair said he and the secretary would sign the resolution and forward it to Utility Tax Service for billing.
