Trustee Egan reported the Community Promotion and Tourism Committee reviewed and voted to approve a recommendation for the village’s 2026 hotel‑motel tax budget and discussed the 2026 local tourism grant program.
The committee also received a presentation from Beth Marchetti of the DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau about countywide tourism activity, and Trustee Egan said the committee opened the application period for the 2026 local tourism grants; the call for projects will accept applications through Friday, Dec. 12, 2025.
The Community Relations Committee reported a successful senior fair this year, thanked village staff (noting Stephanie Calvillo by name), and reminded residents that the Veterans Day ceremony will be held Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at Lombard Common Park.
Trustee Lavec, reporting for the Economic and Community Development Committee, said the committee unanimously approved purchase support for a Placer AI subscription to help analyze visitor and shopper data; the cost is roughly $20,000 for the year and the item will go next to the Promotion and Tourism Committee for further review. Lavec also said the committee unanimously approved a recommendation to expand the downtown grant program boundary south along Main Street roughly to Washington Boulevard to provide additional properties eligibility for façade and incentive programs.
Scott (staff member) clarified that other development sites in town already identified for incentives include Eastgate Shopping Center, Brixmor Shopping Center, Yorktown and Birch Plaza, and that any incentive or façade assistance outside downtown would be considered on a case‑by‑case basis under the village’s economic incentive policy.
No public participation was recorded on these items during the meeting. The committee reports were delivered at the start of the Oct. 16 meeting and forwarded committee recommendations to the trustees for formal action on the consent agenda.
Ending: The trustees received the reports and moved forward the committee recommendations; the downtown boundary expansion and other committee recommendations were later included in the consent agenda acted on by the board.
