Christian Cameron, presenting for the project manager, asked the board to authorize Supplement No. 2 to the existing on‑call contract with Kimley‑Horn and Associates for design and engineering services related to the Far East Side Bus Stop Improvements Project.
If approved, the supplement adds $234,233, bringing the total design cost for the task order to $889,180. The original agreement with Kimley‑Horn covered design, ADA compliance, cost estimating, land acquisition services and construction support for improvements at 55 local bus stops. A prior supplement of $31,000 covered additional geotechnical work.
The expanded scope would add rear lighting and concrete boarding pads at 36 of the 55 bus stop locations and would add two new pedestrian traffic signals. Cameron said the work requires additional survey, geotechnical and land‑acquisition services; the expenditures are already budgeted and the original fee was funded through an FTA Areas of Persistent Poverty grant.
The board voted to authorize the supplement; staff said the designer’s proposal includes a 43.3% commitment from subconsultants (referred to in the packet) for DBE/participation goals.
