Jennifer Pierce, Indigo’s president and chief executive officer, recognized four retiring employees and presented monthly employee awards at the board of directors meeting on Oct. 16.
The board honored Stephen Thyne for 37 years with the agency and noted he has 33 years of safe driving recognition. Arvinder Singh was named operations employee of the month for September; Pierce read the nominator’s description of Singh’s “exceptional customer service and a proactive approach.”
Pierce and colleagues publicly thanked retirees Dexter Davis (30 years), Rod McGuire (25 years) and Daryl Watts (46 years) for their service. Pierce said Davis “was not anticipating that this would become a career,” and described mentors and on‑the‑job training that helped him and others stay with the agency. McGuire was recognized for his work in maintenance and for helping start Indigo’s mentoring program. The board presented signs and certificates to the retirees.
The board also introduced Stan Smith as a new director. Pierce said Smith brings more than three decades of leadership in public and private infrastructure roles, including a term as commissioner of the Indiana Department of Transportation, and a career in consulting focused on transportation and infrastructure.
The recognitions and introduction took place before the board began regular business.
Looking ahead, Pierce said the retirements and new director appointments reflect long institutional relationships at Indigo and thanked the retirees for their years of service.
