District reports Markelle Papered Field open Sundays; crews installing speakers, cameras and custom handrails

Director of building grounds Mr. White reported work on a 500‑foot pole, wiring and mounting speakers and rack equipment and said staff hoped to have the system operational within a week. He also said crews have installed “20, 23 or 24 cameras” between the two fields to expand coverage.
On a separate facilities item, staff discussed custom handrails tied to steps that must be poured before rail fabrication. Mr. White said the rails are a custom, relatively expensive item and that the contractor will not fabricate until the concrete steps are poured and measured. He said the engineer specified rails to meet “most ADA standards” and that district staff declined a suggested exemption that would have allowed a lower‑quality product to speed delivery.
