New Transportation and Mobility director Blythe Feeley introduces himself at TAB meeting

Blythe Feeley, the new director of City of Boulder Transportation and Mobility, introduced himself to the Transportation Advisory Board at the Oct. 13 meeting and described his background in urban design, transportation and parks.
Feeley said he began his career in education, switched to architecture and developed an interest in the public spaces between buildings. He described starting Chattanooga’s first dedicated transportation department in 2013 to focus on people-centered streets and said he subsequently worked in parks around the outdoors and public realms. "I hope that in the process of giving you all this introduction, I will convey my sense of excitement and delight at being here in Colorado, specifically in in Boulder," Feeley said.
Feeley told TAB he has been in Boulder for about four weeks and that he plans one-on-one walks and bike rides with TAB members to learn neighborhood conditions. He said he sees streets and parks as a continuous public realm and emphasized coordination between transportation projects and civic spaces such as the Civic Area.
TAB members welcomed Feeley and several offered to meet individually for walking or bike visits. Feeley said he looks forward to working with existing staff and volunteers and to building on prior department work.
Ending: Feeley asked TAB members for one-on-one visits so he can better understand local conditions and stakeholders; staff and board members welcomed the offer and plan follow-up.
