Janet Morlock, representing Relay For Life of Sierra Vista, said the local American Cancer Society event will be held Saturday, Oct. 25 at Veterans Memorial Park from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., and described the gathering as both a fundraiser and a "celebration of hope" for survivors, caregivers and families.
"It's not too late to sign up even though the event's coming up in 8 short days," Morlock said on the broadcast, urging listeners to register online or donate to teams and relayers. She said the event will feature a survivor lap, a luminaria ceremony in which bags are lit around the track to remember loved ones, a fenced children's area with activities donated by local partners, DJs, Zumba and themed laps.
Morlock said the local Relay is marking its 31st event in Sierra Vista and the 40th nationwide. She said roughly 250 people and 25 to 30 teams were already registered and that organizers planned family‑friendly activities and prizes for participants who stay through the event's conclusion.
The broadcast provided guidance to find the local Relay page by searching "Relay for Life of Sierra Vista" and noted the event's emphasis on community support for cancer survivors and caregivers. No changes to public safety or road closures were announced during the segment.
