ZBA accepts Honeybee Child Care sign/awning application; board notes county referral and Nov. 19 hearing

An applicant representative said the awning is 32 square feet and that, because other permitted signage tied to the daycare already uses up a portion of the allowable signage budget, the new awning would push the aggregate signage above the permitted limit and require a variance for aggregate signage area and for the number of signs. Board members noted that sign regulation in residential districts is restrictive and that because the property sits on or near County and state roads the application must be referred to the Dutchess County Planning Board under General Municipal Law §239-m.
The board accepted the application and agreed to refer the matter to the planning board and Dutchess County for comment. The applicant confirmed availability for the Nov. 19 public hearing.
