Council approves larger internally lit monument sign for Far West Family Dental

Far West — The Far West City Council unanimously approved a permit for a larger monument sign for Far West Family Dental at 1407 North 2000 West during its Oct. 15 meeting.

City staff said the planning commission recommended approval. Staff confirmed the proposed sign met the city’s frontage-to-square-footage ratio and setback requirements. The applicant or a sign representative told the council the design is the same as the existing sign but larger and will use internal LED lighting rather than external spotlights.

A councilmember asked whether the sign met frontage and setback standards; staff answered that those rules had been checked. Councilmember Tim moved to approve the monument sign; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote. A roll call later confirmed a unanimous aye from Tim, Katie, Boyd, David and Bob.

Staff will process permits and the sign company was advised to follow any conditions in the approved application and city sign code.
