The Pocatello City Council voted Oct. 19 to authorize submission of a Marathon Community Investment Program sustainability‑grant application requesting $30,000 for Upper City Creek Trailhead improvements. The council also authorized acceptance of the grant and the mayor’s signature on applicable documents, subject to legal review, if the grant is awarded.

City staff said there is no required local match for the Marathon grant. Council Member Mangum moved to approve submission of the application; Council Member Cheatham seconded and the motion passed on a roll call vote.

If awarded, staff said the grant funds would be used for improvements at the Upper City Creek Trailhead; specifics of the planned improvements were not detailed during the meeting and will be finalized as part of grant acceptance and project planning.
