Sterling Heights seeks volunteers for Nov. 1 citywide "Shine" cleanup

Marissa Russo, host of Snapshot, said the city needs volunteers to help Sterling Heights residents with property maintenance during a citywide cleanup on Saturday, Nov. 1, when First Church of Sterling Heights will host the fall Shine Day. "We need your help to make Sterling Heights neighborhoods shine bright on Saturday, Nov. 1 as First Church of Sterling Heights hosts our fall shine day," Russo said.

The cleanup is part of the Sterling Heights Initiative for Neighborhood Excellence through the Community Relations department. According to the announcement, the program pairs volunteers from schools, churches and neighborhood groups with homeowners who need assistance with property maintenance because of age, physical disabilities or financial hardship. Organizers said the list of homes in need is currently over full and additional volunteers are needed.

The announcement described Shine as an opportunity for students, family members, organizations and coworkers to help neighbors with tasks related to property upkeep.
