The Mount Pleasant City Council on Aug. 19 unanimously approved two ordinances to amend the fiscal year 2025 budget: Ordinance 2025‑15 to record grant revenues and expenses for library and airport projects, and Ordinance 2025‑16 to allocate proceeds from a recent city auction toward one‑time equipment purchases.
Jillian, the staff presenter, said Ordinance 2025‑15 updates the budget to reflect grants received by the library and airport so that revenue and expense sides match and the city is not showing an overrun. She told council the prior budget had only allocated the city's portion rather than the full grant revenue and project expense.
Jillian said the second amendment, Ordinance 2025‑16, allocates funds the city received from an equipment auction. Those proceeds will fund one‑time purchases including replacement of a motor grader, additional mowers for parks, equipment for the fire department and a one‑time payment for a lapsed police billing. Council discussion emphasized using one‑time auction proceeds for nonrecurring expenditures.
Both ordinances were approved by unanimous vote.
