City staff described the easement as necessary for SWIPCO to extend electric service to a roughly 5,000-square-foot hangar that Wesley Baker built on airport property. A staff member said the contractor made progress after a stretch of dry weather and that the project is back on schedule.
The consent agenda — which included approval of the July 1 meeting minutes, the Drake Paving pay request and acceptance of the quarterly investment report for the quarter ending June 30, 2025 — passed with a motion and a unanimous vote. The separate motion to approve the electrical easement also passed unanimously.
Council members did not request further discussion before voting. The city packet included a signed consent-to-demo form for other agenda items and supporting documents for the airport work; staff said the easement request was limited to the electric line to the hangar.
The approvals allow Drake Paving to continue its scheduled work at the airport and authorize SWIPCO to install electric service to the new hangar. No timetable for final project completion beyond the taxiway paving start date was provided at the meeting.
