Canyon commission approves $322,159 purchase of rear-loading trash truck

"The total purchase price is $322,159.09 dollars, which is part of an HTAC buy cooperative agreement and is the same amount that is included in the budget," a staff member who presented the item said. The presenter also said the chosen matte-granite model had been favored in prior local use.
A commissioner asked why the city used the cooperative agreement rather than conducting its own bid. A staff responder explained the cooperative option "is already been bid, and so we get the purchasing power of multiple agencies buying at once rather than us on our own trying to come up with the individual agreement, which would attract less vendors." That explanation was given as justification for using the cooperative purchase method.
A motion to authorize the purchase passed by voice/raising of hands. The meeting record shows the motion carried; a named mover, seconder and a roll-call vote tally were not specified in the transcript.
The commission then recessed into an executive session later in the agenda. The truck purchase is listed in the fiscal year 2025–26 budget and will remain subject to normal capital-equipment asset management and replacement accounting.
